CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

Because of the particular vulnerability of children, the UN General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in 1989. Thus, every child has the legal right to life, to education, to freedom of thought, conscience and religion...

All these rights must be respected by the States parties, guided by the Committee on the Rights of the Child. The Committee recommends in its concluding observations systematically that States provide training and awareness-raising activities on children's rights to the population, and to professionals working for and with children:

(The Committee recommends to) ensure systematic training on children’s rights and the Convention and the Optional Protocols thereto, including through the allocation of sufficient resources, for all professionals working for and with children, in particular those working in the areas of education, health, child protection, social protection, alternative care, justice and asylum ”.
