MOTHER-CHILD HEALTH

« In 2019, 6.1 million children and adolescents died, mostly from preventable diseases. Of these, 5.2 million were children under the age of 5 - almost half of them newborns ». 

However, the International Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes the principle that « States Parties recognize the right of the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health. States Parties shall strive to ensure that no child is deprived of his or her right of access to such health care services ». 

 

The newborn is dependent on his mother, so it is necessary to consider the health of the child, while taking into account the health status and access to care of the mothers.
